Well what can I say about this award winning café other than just that… IT IS AWARD WINNING.
Set in the heart of the now up-and-coming Sherwood, just outside of the City limits, sits this proud bakery and café. Stripped back and cosy décor give this cute eatery a comfortable and relaxed vibe that makes it the perfect brunch date spot.
Supplying not only their own menu with freshly baked goods, The Bakehouse stock a number of other cafes and restaurants in Nottingham and it’s not hard to see why. Their sourdough alone is without rival and I have it on good info that they have perfected the classic ‘english muffin’.
Their dedicated team work round the clock to create new and tasty bakery items as well as rustic loaves and classic breads. I couldn’t help stare with a salivating mouth at their pastais de nata, brownies and homemade sausage rolls.
I popped in for breakfast on a work day and had the cheese on toast – sounds a little plain for me, I know, but wow, was it good. Chris had the cheese and mushroom croissant and I had a touch of the ‘ol food envy ensue when it came out. Needless to say, we both loved it, and after spotting their new tapas menu, have decided we need to go and check it out one evening to make sure we have a fully formed opinion of the place!
The Bakehouse cater for all diets and have a great vegan variety in house as well. I noticed the many awards decorating the walls and couldn’t help but think they’re going to run out of space if they keep up the hard work.
I know it’s only January and a lot of people are still in blue moods, because let’s face it, January is the Monday of the entire year. BUTTTT, if you’re thinking ahead to summer plans (I know I definitely am) and are thinking of holding a few parties then The Bakehouse have a licensed mobile bar, and can come to you! Go check out their website for more info.
I will definitely add it to the list! Love finding independent cafes
